Could the sound of my voice be used to tell if I have COVID-19?
A new technology from Israel that uses more than a million data points as biomarkers to analyze one's speaking voice to help identify patients with different kinds of diseases is now being used to detect COVID-19. Using artificial intelligence, the scientists at Vocalis were able to create an algorithm that is capable of detecting the infection in symptomatic and asymptomatic people infected with the virus that causes COVID-19.
Just open the app on your smartphone, tablet, or laptop and count from 70 to 90 speaking into the microphone. Within a minute the algorithm will determine whether or not it is likely that you have COVID-19. NIPIT, in partnership with Vocalis is now making this app available to all participants in our program and to employers and employees of businesses insured under Workers Compensation with Atlas General Insurance Services.
Once the app has been downloaded, business owners and their employees can take the Vocalis Check test as often as they would like at a cost of less than $1 per day. We recommend that employees take the test each morning prior to coming to work and at the end of each shift. If an employee is flagged by the test as suspicious for having COVID-19, they should report this to their supervisor/manager immediately and seek testing rather than coming to work where they might spread the infection to coworkers.
